OECD Report – April 2020
The OECD has released a report in recent days “Keeping the internet up and running during times of crisis” which has taken a look at the impact of the Covid-19 Pandemic and subsequent lock-down of countries on internet networks.
Overall, it communicates that the internet in general has withstood the demands placed upon it, thus far, and highlights a number of interesting stats including some on the changing profile of traffic peaks on networks each day.
An interesting read to enable those running their own networks to see some reflection of what they have experienced in other networks and countries during this crisis. There is also some information on best practices in these circumstances and also recommendations for the future.
The report includes a view on the activity and actions at IXPs and includes references to the planning and capacity enhancement work undertaken at INEX and with members. Thank you to Gaël Hernandez, who was a co-writer of this report for his contribution to this report and reflecting INEX’s actions in it.
