I looked in https://raw.githubusercontent.com/inex/IXP-Manager/master/tools/installers/ubuntu-lts-1604-ixp-manager-v4.sh and saw the chown commands there, so I just ran those. Problems solved!

I decided to update my IXP Manager install today. It looks like the upgrade documentation has changed a bit since I did it last.

I ran into an issue, assuming because the files are owned by root.

polyfill-php55, ircmaxell, now composer/installed.json

What permissions are things supposed to have?

I saw this:

chown -R www-data: var/ storage/ bootstrap/cache/ database/Proxies/
chmod -R u+rwX var/ storage/ bootstrap/cache/ database/Proxies/

But that wouldn't fix the current permissions conflict. As it appeared those first two were being removed anyway, I just added their paths to the above chown command and reran the command so it'd delete. I did have to manually remove the polyfill-php55 empty directory because it wouldn't go away even with permissions.

installed.json... I'm not sure.

file_put_contents(/srv/ixpmanager/vendor/composer/installed.json): failed to open stream: Permission denied

I assume permissions again, but no longer certain what it should be.
