We've just uploaded the tutorial given at LACNIC29 in Panama, which 
includes a section on setting up MRTG in IXP Manager.  The presentation 
can be downloaded here:

The MRTG config is on pages 6-8.  It would be a good idea if you used 
this as a template for how to configure MRTG.
