When INEX faced a LAN migration we looking at specific development
effort in IXP Manager vs. other options. In the end, we cloned IXP
Manager and manually updated the database to swap all, for example,
x.x.x.z addresses to y.y.y.z addresses.
Then at various advertised points during the ~5 day migration window, we
pointed API endpoints of, e.g., route servers at the new instance, etc.
which eventually became the production instance.
We probably still have a chunk of this documented and some slides lying
about and would be happy to turn it into some operational documentation
for IXP Manager in the new year if an IXP is facing this. It was well
thought out and went off pretty much flawlessly.
In IXP Manager you can add any addresses you like so there's no specific
restriction there. There is a restriction on a single network address
and prefix per VLAN though and this is to match the IX-F Export Schema.
If there's to be a discussion on that, the schema's GitHub issues /
discussions page on GitHub might be the place for it?
